Solicitors - Be cautious with any stranger that knocks on your door. You are not required to open the door. Never open the door to someone that you don't know. If the entire neighborhood practices this, then solicitors will have no reason to solicit in your neighborhood. Always look through your peephole. Do not get in a conversation with solicitors through your front door. If you notice the solicitor doing anything suspicious such as looking in windows, testing doors, entering back yards, or any other suspicious behavior, call us immediately. Utilize "No Soliciting" signs near your front door.
-
Knock at the door - Always acknowledge the knock at the door. Burglars are checking to see if anyone is at home, especially during the day when everyone is at work, school, grocery store, etc. This is when most residential burglaries occur. Trust your gut instinct and have the phone in your hand. Refuse to open the door to anyone you don't know or aren't comfortable with and don't hesitate to call us.
-
Packages - Don't let your packages sit at the front door. Schedule deliveries for times you will be home. Buddy up with your neighbor. You could also schedule in-store pick-up.
-
Suspicious Persons and or Vehicles - Please do not hesitate to call us and investigate. Just because someone is wearing a reflective yellow vest does not make them official. Do not become a victim of Theft of a Residence, Home Invasion, etc.
